For many years I wanted to explore the world and gain experiences from meeting new people and from being immersed in different cultures and environments. I also had a great desire to help make the world a better place. So in 2015, I decided that it was time to make a change and dedicate the next part of my life to exploring and helping those in need along the way.
The first part of my journey has taken me through 27 states. Words could never fully describe this experience of being completely immersed in nature. I traveled from coast to coast to many national parks like the famous Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and the Great Smokey Mountains along with others none the less spectacular such as Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Glacier being my favorite. I took these months to have a better understanding of myself and to think about what I wanted to do with my life.
While exploring all of these immensely beautiful parts of our world, I had many thoughts about life and what comes next. I feel that as we grow, our responsibilities grow but also what we affect grows. The more wealth we get, wealth being love, knowledge, spiritual and monetary among others, the bigger our duty becomes; which is to help those who have less, those who are suffering. Many people often wonder what they can do to help others in need. With so many challenges happening in our everyday lives, it can be difficult to find the time and the resources to help others. Sometimes we feel powerless because there is so much need, and we ask ourselves, what can I as an individual do to help when the problems are so vast? I am here to tell you that individuals like you and I have to take personal responsibility to create change. We must not sit around and wait for others to do things. As individuals we should be proactive every day and seek opportunities for a better world. I understand that we as individuals don’t have the power to do it all but if together we take small steps towards social change we can make an incredible difference.
The second part of my journey took me to new horizons that included the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguy, Argentina, Chile, and Costa Rica. My desire and mission is not only to explore the beautiful landscapes, cities, people and cultures, but also to give back. My desire and mission is to educate and inspire and to bring help to those who really need it as I traverse throughparts of the Caribbean, North, Central and South America.
The purpose of this journey is to really understand different perspectives and to change lives. To learn about cultures and norms and to instill a vision of a world where people value cultures different from their own, are aware of global issues and are empowered to affect positive change.
